American Idol‘s Mariah Carey is gonna have quite a huge year. In addition to joining the judging panel of FOX’s hit TV show, she also has new music ["Triumphant (Get 'Em)"] and a new film in the works. Sources reveal that the pop diva balladeer is joining the cast of The Butler — alongside Oprah and Alan Rickman.

The film — which also stars Alex Pettyfer, Forest Whitaker, Robin Williams, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lenny Kravitz and more — is based on a Washington Post feature about Eugene Allen (Cecil Gaines in the movie). Allen was a black White House butler who served for 34 years and eight First Families.
The movie is currently filming in New Orleans. According to Black Film, Mariah’s role is unclear at this point.
